When to See a Physiotherapist for Back Pain

July 26, 2026 · mnehalnasir@gmail.com

Most people wait too long with back pain, hoping it fades on its own. Sometimes it does. Here is how to know when it is time to get it assessed properly.

See a Physiotherapist If

  • Pain has lasted more than one to two weeks without clear improvement
  • Pain keeps returning with the same activities
  • Stiffness limits your work, prayer or sleep
  • You are relying on painkillers regularly to get through the day

Seek a Doctor First If

  • Pain follows a serious fall or accident
  • You have numbness in the groin area or loss of bladder or bowel control
  • You have fever, unexplained weight loss or night pain that does not ease

What Treatment Looks Like

Assessment first, always. Then a combination of hands-on treatment and progressive exercise built around your daily routine. Read more about back pain physiotherapy at home.
